How does The New Website Work?
This is very exciting stuff!
<p><u><strong>Desktop vs Mobile:</strong></u></p>
<p>We know it's 2020 and people use their phones a lot. So we've worked hard on ensuring the site functions well on mobile (especially compared to what it once was). Having said that, desktop is the recommended way of perusing the site.</p>
<p><u><strong>Glossary:</strong></u></p>
<p>At its core, this has always been a website written for wine professionals *attempting* to glean information on the wines we import (and hopefully see a picture of the vigneron's dog). Since the language can be so technical, we've added an <glossary term="glossary" title="1427">interactive glossary</glossary> to the text for those unfamiliar with the baffllingly complex world of wine terminology. Even if you're a seasoned pro, it will frankly teach you a thing or two. And if you'd rather read the content without the glossary, simply head to the main menu bar and turn it off. </p>
<p> <u><strong>Our Wines Section: </strong></u></p>
<p>In the new "Our Wines" section, we've offered a variety of filter categories for you to explore and discover all the cuvées we import. These filters can be combined together to narrow down results. If you hit a wall, simply erase one of the filters or clear all filters. </p>
<p><u><strong>Actual Information About the Wines:</strong></u></p>
<p>Speaking of the wines, the number one complaint we would get from customers was the lack of technical information on the wines themselves. It's not a coincidence that we spend the vast majority of our energy focusing on the people behind the wines and their dogs; it's what we dig about what we do.</p>
<p>Having said that, 95% of the wines we import now have EXTREMELY detailed technical information, dare I say the most technical anywhere on the internet. Please enjoy now while they are up to date, knowing that half of these will probably be totally wrong by next vintage. </p>
<p><u><strong>Search:</strong></u></p>
<p>If you know what producer or wine you are searching for, the search should quickly autofill what you need. Go ahead, give it a whirl.</p>
<p><strong><u>Hyperlinks:</u></strong></p>
<p>Everything on the website has a hyperlink now. This means you can easily share a specific producer page, article, wine or filter combination with anyone. </p>
<p><u><strong>Copy/Paste:</strong></u></p>
<p>If you need to copy/paste anything, the glossary needs to be turned off for the text to paste correctly. Also, if you are going to straight up use our writing verbatim, PLEASE credit us when doing so. Seems obvious but we see it happen all the time. </p>
<p><u><strong>A Shit-Ton of Written Content:</strong></u></p>
<p>The articles themselves can often be very long, and for this reason we developed a Propriety Pop Up System™ where you can easily scroll through various articles/wines and "pop out" to efficiently look at the rest of the content.</p>
<p>We've tried our best to pack as many dog pictures as possible in there, but the digital ink has been spilled: the cumulation of decades' worth of writings from Joe, Denyse, Kevin and Jules is here for you to read. A huge part of the work with this new website was to find better ways to condense and extract essential information you need without getting lost in all that BORING text. </p>
<p>We still think you should check it out. Don't worry, there are plenty of pictures. And you might even find the writing interesting. Or funny. Or both. </p>

Geremi Producer Profile
<p>Brother and sister Miriam and Renato Mareschi are first and foremost restaurateurs. Both grew up working in their parents’ restaurant in Ranuccio until it closed in 2006; Miriam ran the front of the house (becoming the sommelier in 1990) while Renato made the pizzas.</p>
<p>Since 2002, Miriam owns and runs the fantastic trattoria Piazzetta del Sole in the medieval town of Farnese. Always encouraging her chefs to meticulously source ingredients, in the late aughts she found herself wanting to do the same with wine. Having become increasingly enamored with <em>vini naturali</em>, by 2010 Miriam served these exclusively. Wanting to offer her customers and excellent house wine, in 2016 she decided to start a small project of her own. Her brother Renato, who’d made wine with his father and grandfather in his youth (Mr. Mareschi produced wine for personal consumption until 1997), joined her and, in 2017, a white wine called "Itinerae" was produced to be served exclusively at Piazzetta del Sole.</p>
<p>This first experience made Renato fall in love with the idea of tending vines and making wine, so he began sourcing as many vineyards as he could to rent and produce Geremi’s first “official” <glossary term="Vintage" title="1109">vintage</glossary> in 2018. Today, the <glossary term="Estate" title="427">estate</glossary> consists of roughly two <glossary term="Hectare" title="523">hectares</glossary> of rented <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Parcel" title="760">parcels</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> most in the surrounding area of Farnese (home of Miriam’s restaurant) and Ischia di Castro (home of the <glossary term="Cellar" title="254">cellar</glossary>) with a few other <glossary term="Plot" title="1133">plots</glossary> in Montefiacone, a <glossary term="Commune" title="322">commune</glossary> closer to the the <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Lake Bolsena" title="173">Bolsena Lake</glossary><span>.</span></span></span></p>
<p>The wines are made in a small <glossary term="Cellar" title="254">cellar</glossary> in Ischia di Castro that's been in the family for generations. Miriam and Renato inherited it in the 1980's, when the family still made wine for personal consumption from a <glossary term="Plot" title="1133">plot</glossary> they no longer own. With no formal training outside of his time working with his family, Renato’s <glossary term="Vinification" title="1104">vinifications</glossary> are simple and rustic: a nod to the personal consumption winemaking of his past generation while also in line with what he and Miriam like to drink. Almost everything is currently produced in <glossary term="Stainless Steel" title="986">stainless steel</glossary> or <glossary term="Fiberglass" title="445">fiberglass</glossary> <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Vat/Tank" title="1140">tanks</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> though this may change with time. The wines <glossary term="Fermentation" title="441">ferment</glossary> with <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Spontaneous Fermentation" title="976">spontaneous yeasts</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> are never <glossary term="Fining" title="449">fined</glossary> or <glossary term="Filtration" title="447">filtered</glossary> and the only thing added is a small amount of <glossary term="Sulfites" title="993">S02</glossary> during <glossary term="Maceration" title="610">macerations</glossary> and <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Racking/Soutirage" title="843">racking</glossary><span>.</span></span></span> </p>

2023 at Radikon: Mildew and Hail
<p>These were for the first two weeks of <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Harvest" title="521">harvest</glossary><span>.</span></span></span> </p>
<p>The 2023 season is not a perfect one: the weather constantly alternated between rain and sun, so we needed to <glossary term="Contact Treatment" title="328">treat</glossary> a lot this year. Moreover, a <glossary term="Hail" title="1136">hailstorm</glossary> in July didn’t help. The <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio" title="803">Pinot Grigio</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Chardonnay" title="271">Chardonnay</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> <glossary term="Sauvignon Blanc" title="927">Sauvignon</glossary> and <glossary term="Tocai Friulano/Sauvignon Vert" title="929">Tocai Friulano</glossary> (already <glossary term="Harvest" title="521">harvested</glossary>) were in some parts more dry (because of <glossary term="Hail" title="1136">hail</glossary>), but in the end the crop was better than we expected. But we still have to collect all the reds and the <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Ribolla Gialla" title="857">Ribolla</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> or rather what we can of the <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Ribolla Gialla" title="857">Ribolla</glossary><span>:</span></span></span> it was the most damaged by <glossary term="Hail" title="1136">hail</glossary> and we lost a good part of the crop.</p>
<p>The first pictures show the the "Sivi" process (100% <glossary term="Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio" title="803">Pinot Grigio</glossary> – 7/10 days on the skins), then the Slatnik (80% <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Chardonnay" title="271">Chardonnay</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> 20% <glossary term="Tocai Friulano/Sauvignon Vert" title="929">Tocai Friulano</glossary> – 7/10 days on the skins) – note Ivana doing the <glossary term="Pigeage/Punchdown" title="795">punching down</glossary> and the skins after the <glossary term="Maceration" title="610">maceration</glossary> and the press. In the meantime we started to collect the grapes for the Oslavje (<glossary term="Chardonnay" title="271">Chardonnay</glossary> and <span class="zalup"><span> <glossary term="Sauvignon Blanc" title="927">Sauvignon</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> half and half). Some panoramas and at the end Ivana and Saša preparing the new <glossary term="Vat/Tank" title="1140">vats</glossary> for the season. </p>
